MINI RACER
This is a monochrome picture from a 35 MM slide. The film was
fujichrome 100 and the lens a 28/70 mm. zoom at the 28 mm
setting.
The camera was low down and close to the subject to give a
dramatic result. It was also important to get as much as possible
sharp, so a small aperture was chosen to get maximum depth of
field.
That meant a relatively low shutter speed, so the camera was
supported on a monopod to help prevent shake.
It is also important to get the correct exposure when using wide
angle lenses. In this case, the car fills the frame, so there was
no problem. However, in the case of a scene, the wide angle may
include a lot of sky. The metering can then be fooled into under
exposure due to the excess of bright sky.
In such cases, a reading of the foreground is to be advised, then
the use of manual, or exposure compensation for the exposure
proper.
